What is Mahua?
Mahua (Madhuca longifolia) is a large tropical tree that grows across the forests of central and eastern India — Odisha, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. For the tribal communities here, the Mahua tree is not a plant. It is a calendar, a pantry, a pharmacy, and a sacred presence all at once.
The flowers are sun-dried, cleaned, and used across food, traditional wellness, and cultural ceremony. mittieco is working directly with tribal communities in Kandhamal to responsibly source Mahua — with the same traceability and transparency we apply to our turmeric.
